In Angela's Words
“Protecting our community starts with the places we use every day.”Angela Saggese, candidate for Vaughan Ward 1 City Councillor
One of the things I hear most from residents is simple. They want to feel safe in the community they call home.
Protecting our community starts with the places we use every day: our neighbourhood streets, our parks, our trails, our schools and the public spaces where families gather. That means making our streets safer, improving safety around school routes and busy intersections, and making sure our parks and public spaces remain welcoming and well cared for.
It also means working together. Some of the best ideas come from the people who live here, which is why I believe in working closely with residents, ratepayer associations, neighbourhood watch groups and local community partners to support practical, community-based safety initiatives.
And just as importantly, residents deserve to be kept informed. Whether it's a neighbourhood concern, a safety issue or an important local decision, people should have access to timely information and know their voices are being heard.
As your Ward 1 Councillor, I'll work every day to strengthen neighbourhood safety, support our local communities and help ensure Maple and Kleinburg remain safe, welcoming places for families today and for future generations. That's how we protect our community while planning for tomorrow.

Community Safety in Ward 1: How It Works
Keeping Ward 1 safe takes several partners working together. In Vaughan's two-tier system, police services are provided by York Region, while the City of Vaughan is responsible for services such as fire and rescue, by-law enforcement, parks and local roads.
That means a Ward Councillor's role is to be a strong advocate: bringing residents' concerns to Council and regional partners, pushing for safer street and school route design, and supporting community-led programs like neighbourhood watch. Angela will be that voice for Maple and Kleinburg.
