In Angela's Words

“Responsible growth means thinking ahead, not reacting after the fact.”Angela Saggese, candidate for Vaughan Ward 1 City Councillor

Growth is happening across Ward 1, and that's not the problem. The real question is whether we're planning for it the right way.

Responsible growth means thinking ahead, not reacting after the fact. Before major development moves forward, we need to make sure that our roads, traffic, schools, parks and community services are ready to support the families who live here.

It also means investing in the places that already bring our community together, like our parks, public spaces and community hubs, so they continue to serve residents as Ward 1 grows.

Residents deserve to be part of the conversation. Better consultation, clearer communication and timely updates help build trust and ensure decisions reflect the needs of our neighbourhoods.

And as we grow, we must protect the character of Maple and Kleinburg, the unique communities that so many families are proud to call home. As your Ward 1 Councillor, I'll support responsible planning that puts residents first, protects our community, and ensures we continue planning for tomorrow without losing what makes Maple and Kleinburg so special.

Growth in Ward 1: The Local Picture

A future GO Station at Keele Street and Kirby Road

The City of Vaughan is studying how a potential future GO Station could fit into the community at Keele Street and Kirby Road through the Block 27 Transit Hub Special Study. The Block 27 area, bounded by Teston Road, Keele Street, Kirby Road and Jane Street, is planned as a complete community with housing, retail, community facilities and parks. Angela wants to see real progress that turns this transit connection from a plan into a station.

Growth that fits our communities

New neighbourhoods need roads, transit, schools and services in place, not years later. Angela will ask the tough questions at Council so that development in Maple and Kleinburg is matched by the infrastructure residents depend on, and so the character of our communities is protected.
